IMPORTANT: SERVER 18765 REPLACEMENT

Hello everyone,

 

We've recently been getting reports of server crashes from our BF3 PlayStation 3 server 18765. I've contacted EA Support and we have obtained a brand new server, in addition to the old one, at the same region and with the same expiry date as server 18765. I will be setting up the server shortly. Because I haven't been online, there is a slew of updates totaling over 20GB that must be applied to the PlayStation 3 system in order for me to start the game and finish setting up the server. I will update this thread when the server is ready for use.

 

The new server is (will be, once setup) called New Team of Weapons and Tactics - HARDCORE - 300% - 38762 and can be found using your in-game server browser. As this is a new server, settings from the old server do not transfer. Admins and staff will be setting up map rotations and the ban list as necessary, as done before. All admins have the same responsibility and limitations; for example, if you weren't authorized to manage the map rotations before, you still aren't.

 

Feel free to add the server to your favorites. Server 18765 will remain online and available however it may be unstable until a fix becomes possible on EA's end. The server description for server 18765 has been slightly modified to reflect the presence of the new server.

 

Unfortunately, populating the server will have to be done as before from scratch as it is brand-new but hopefully with the other server still running, people will search for our new server and find it.

Why not put info about the new server in the old server info, just so people who have Favorite the old server can't find it and when it's deleted, never know.

Also, what's the point of those numbers?. Is it a PC thing or something?

 

Nice though. Was getting a pain always seeing the servers empty because of the bugs

The server is ready, published, and being setup courtesy of Iceman and tracker.

 

I was actually planning on doing that but had so little time to logon, I never got the chance to. I will be sending a message to Iceman with a description that they can put on it.

 

As for the numbers, those are serial numbers. We've had issues in the past (believe it or not) where people would get servers and name them after ours. So people would think they were joining our servers when in reality, it was all a scam. Those servers had abusive admins, etc...you name it. They had it.

 

So the serial number system works as such: when a new server is obtained, its owner is to choose a random 5 digit serial number to be used to uniquely identify the server. Most importantly, serial numbers are NEVER reused. Thus, if there is more than one server that runs with the same serial number, one of them is fake. Moreover, once a server is decommissioned, that serial number (again) cannot be reused.

 

This serial number system was proposed by me a while ago to help make players a bit more secure, as they would know which servers were official. It also helps the staff better manage reports, particularly when we have multiple servers. They ask which serial number or which server and it helps to easily find the logs on which serve and whatnot.

 

So let's hope our new server becomes just as popular as the old one. Wish I could help (believe me)...I hate putting all the work onto other people's shoulders.

It's not just me iceman tracker and remmy starting the server this time there are other admins that have responsibility they need to help out to it's part of ur admin duties to help out I'm not sayin up till 5 every night again we also need to announce the new server on. The old server

I'm on BF about everyday and I did read over the schedules of others from the other post but a lot of the times people aren't on.

 

I probably won't be on BF3 as often as before since as of right now I just bought "The Last Of Us" and on Sept 10th I'll probably be buying NHL14, as well GTA on the 17th. I'll still be playing BF3, but instead of (example) 6hours/day, It'll be 2hours depending on the state of mood I'm in

I sent a server description to Iceman yesterday that he can put on the old server that clearly explains the new server.

 

That said, I will make a poll soon about this admin responsibility to help start the server(s). Everyone should help, but I never wanted to force anyone to have to do something. But this doesn't seem particularly too much to ask, so I will put it up for voting soon.
