The New Team of Weapons and Tactics is a continually evolving gaming community that has experienced ongoing growth since its inception in 2008. While not the largest gaming community, our organization, with over 400 members and support for multiple platforms, recognized the need for an improved system to optimize member organization and experience.

In 2017, we introduced and began implementing a precinct-based organizational structure. Precincts are smaller groups within the New Team of Weapons and Tactics, each under the leadership of a Captain, supported by Lieutenants and Sergeants. While each precinct has one Captain, the number of Lieutenants typically ranges from two to four, and the number of Sergeants from three to six. However, there is no strict limit on the maximum number of Lieutenants or Sergeants assigned to a precinct. The Captain of each precinct holds full responsibility for its members and activities. Captains are carefully appointed by the Commissioners (formerly Founders) of the New Team of Weapons and Tactics.

The precinct system is designed to facilitate members playing together. This structure is effective because precinct members are more likely to share platforms and reside in similar time zones or maintain comparable schedules. This organization also increases the likelihood of members having mutual connections, both within and outside the team, enhancing the overall experience for all members, from rank-and-file to leadership.

Within each precinct, Captains have the authority to select their preferred Lieutenants and Sergeants to assist in precinct management. Captains may also recommend exemplary Lieutenants for promotion to Captain, either as their successor or to lead a new precinct. Conversely, Captains are empowered to demote Lieutenants or Sergeants within their precinct as deemed necessary and may transfer or dismiss members from their precinct. Dismissal from a precinct does not automatically result in termination of membership; depending on the circumstances, members may be transferred to another precinct.

Upon joining the New Team of Weapons and Tactics, members have the opportunity to indicate their preferred precinct. If the member is approved and space is available, they are typically assigned to their precinct of choice. If their preferred precinct is at capacity, members may select an alternative precinct or be assigned to a precinct based on availability. Members may request a transfer to another precinct at any time, for any reason.
