The Los Santos Police Department (or LSPD in short) here at the New Team of Weapons and Tactics is dedicated to enhancing the player experience in the virtual world of Los Santos within Grand Theft Auto Online. As with our other police departments and services, our mission focuses on fostering a fair and enjoyable environment for all players by proactively addressing griefing, cheating, and other disruptive behaviors. While we recognize that Grand Theft Auto Online’s open-world nature naturally leads to unpredictable and sometimes chaotic gameplay, the members of our department do their best to assist players and support the community wherever possible.
Operating as a unified department, the LSPD provides a range of public safety services during online freemode sessions, including emergency response, protective services, transportation assistance, fire rescue, and emergency medical support. Specialized services such as protective custody are available upon request.
As of March 1, 2020, the Los Santos Sheriff’s Department officially merged with the Los Santos Police Department to form a single, streamlined law enforcement entity under the LSPD name. This consolidation, originally prompted by the operational challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, was implemented to simplify procedures and improve efficiency. Personnel may still identify with either the Sheriff's Department or Police Department as a matter of personal preference; however, all official records, arrests, and administrative processes are now managed solely by the LSPD. Standard-issued uniforms, vehicles, and equipment from both departments remain valid and in service.

Security Advisory Update - September 22, 2024
The Los Santos Police Department is pleased to announce that a recent update to the PC version of GTA Online has introduced a new third-party anti-cheat solution, BattlEye. This move marks a notable shift for Rockstar Games, who have traditionally relied on in-house methods to manage the persistent issue of cheating. While these previous efforts have had mixed success, particularly following the removal of key anti-cheat measures (as highlighted in our October 2022 Security Advisory), the introduction of BattlEye represents a potentially significant improvement.
Although BattlEye is not a new technology, this may be the first time Rockstar Games has directly integrated a dedicated third-party anti-cheat solution into one of their titles, entrusting an organization whose primary focus is combating cheating. Given that BattlEye has greater system access than previous... Read more

It has been some time since our last news update, and much has transpired in the interim. Unfortunately, the combined effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the substantial increase in cheating within GTA Online have presented significant challenges. Many officers of the Los Santos Police Department have transitioned to other consoles or games, seeking relief from the persistent frustrations caused by the rampant cheating epidemic. Consequently, our online presence has diminished as we contend with these issues. Additionally, some members have chosen to leave our organization entirely to engage in cheating themselves, in an effort to "level the playing field" by countering cheaters with their own cheats.
While we understand their decisions, given the turbulent state of the current version of GTA Online, as a professional gaming organization, we cannot condone or participate in cheating or other such activities. In response to our reduced staffing levels, we are directing the majority of our... Read more
