Merge of Los Santos Police Department and Los Santos Sheriff's Department
Due to unforeseen circumstances that resulted from the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic, effective March 1, 2020, the Los Santos Sheriff's Department will be operating directly with the Los Santos Police Department under a single entity, the Los Santos Police Department. Members from the Los Santos Sheriff's Department may continue to use their standard-issued department uniforms, vehicles, and weapons, however all future arrests and arrest records will be housed under the Los Santos Police Department. All existing records have already been migrated.
Members of the Los Santos Sheriff's Department may continue to present themselves as part of either the Sheriff's Department or Police Department, based on their personal preference, and vice-versa. Regardless, all records and paperwork will be officially done under the name of the Los Santos Police Department.
The Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) is the law enforcement agency primarily responsible for keeping the peace on the streets of Rockstar Games' reimagined version of Los Angeles— Los Santos— in Grand Theft Auto Online.
At the New Team of Weapons and Tactics, members of the Los Santos Police Department respond to emergency calls and provide a wide-variety of public safety services to players in online freemode sessions. When possible, special services (such as standalone police protection, protective custody, and more) are also available to those who feel they need it the most.
