I've been using my SWAT tactics every now and then. They don't work 100% all the time but I usually have good luck with 'em.

Nice to hear :)

I've been coordinating a SWAT team in Grand Theft Auto IV for the past 2-3 years, so that's where all the tactics from my mouth came from. Though it's not real life, it's worked pretty damn well when I try them in Battlefield 3, even though they're two completely different type of games.

I made a recording of something I was going to post last week but never got to it. In the recording, I talked about a basic technique. I can still upload it if you guys want. :)

Tactics vary a lot on situation, maps, and game mode. The average BF3 player is extremely predictable and will do the exact same thing over and over again. Certain players will do certain things on certain parts of the map, almost guaranteed. For instance, if you're playing TDM on Noshahr Canals, you can be certain a recon player will use his spawn beacon to try to get on the crane. If you're playing on Operation Metro, you can almost be absolutely certain that a support player will go prone inside of the left hall near B flag. Knowing what players will do is a decent advantage, knowing what to do when they do it, is a massive advantage. I can do decently on Battlefield because of observation and routines. You don't need powerful weapons, you don't need to be sticking to  teammates every single second, you don't need to be the first player to get to the helicopter or tank. Sure, those things are nice to have, but you can't always have them, so your best advantage is knowledge.

If you know exactly what the enemy will do before he does it, and what to do in order to counter the enemy, the upper hand is yours. For example, let's say you died during a push on an M-COM station on Metro, you know that the next set of M-COM's is going to be in the ticket area, so to deal with the players who are undoubtedly going to be hiding in the hallway and behind the desks, equip an LVG before you spawn in. It'll make taking out the guys behind cover a lot easier, or at least force them to move out of their areas where they would have an advantage on you. This will allow you to avoid taking damage while killing the enemy, or at least allow you to damage them or force them to move back, giving you and your teammates a chance to move in and cut off their advantage.

Basically, if you guys need help with anything, and I mean ANYTHING, feel free to ask away. Just tell me the map, the mode, and if there's a specific situation you need help getting around. (Situations like the one I mentioned above.) I'll also be making a basic guide to tactics in Battlefield in another part of the forum.

Raider has a good point. Knowledge is a big advantage in this game.

A couple of people asked me if we'd ever go up against the 3RD in a match. I'm not opposed to the idea in the future -- we'd need to have more members so that we have plenty to choose from if it's an event that many can't attend, etc. But one of the things we'll have a pretty good idea of:

  • Sergeant-Crunch will either have his Saiga-12 shotgun or PKP Pecheneg.
  • Johnson (xXoFfMyJoHnSoNXx) will have the good ol' P90.
  • They'll probably fan out -- to try and spread their "man" power. My guess is that'll be their first tactic.

Assuming the match would be Conquest on Metro, there's plenty of options we've got. But as Raider said, we could easily adapt to the upcoming encounters by predicting the weapons and strategies they'd plan to use.

Raider has some very good points, although how you play makes a huge difference. If you blindly run around corners your going to die a lot. I don't know haw many times I have watched players, just run instead of skirting corners or using cover. He mentions the LVG for guys behind desks, this is one of the reasons I love the Engineer class, I can hit you with the anti-tank weapons to get you from behind there. Also if your going for a good k/d don't try to do the assignments as those are designed to make you do things you normally wouldn't do. And my last point is play with a single shot heavy weapon like a bolt sniper for a bit, ensure your weapon is pointed about head level as you move. You would be surprised just how many fights you would win if you aimed usually at the head level, the other thing is short bursts they are way more accurate.

See that's what I'm talking bout we all have our own way and like to stick with so why not change it up put 3 or 4 ways in one and are if it works like say your training Sapper u use some in game right bow take that mix it up with other tatices and I think we could have a good change of success and also have fun trying new things if that makes sence yes spelling horrible burned mu hand so only typing with one hand xD

I have a problem with that i don't have that gun or pistol i can stick with. I know the class i can stick with its just the weapon i  just want a weapon that i can just stick with excel in it and  unlock many things for it  making the gun even more formidable  but i cant really  decide. Any one with ideas like whats a good load out like whats Ur favorite weapon and stuff .

well it depends on class and the role you want to play. I prefer engineer with M4A1

My next one is Assualt with 416//Holographic/Suppressor, 1911 STAC, Medpack/ defib

Support 27/Holographic/Suppressor, 1911 STAC, Ammopack, C-4

Recon  depends on how i feel that day and how close map is

Exactly with Sapper on this. It depends on the kit I'm using which largely depends on the situation(s) we're in.

These days I play with the engineer kit with an M4A1 (favorite carbine), RPG-7/SMAW, and repair tool. My M4A1 has an american red-dot sight, foregrip, and a flashlight on it. I'm just trying to get the M4A1 in second place on my top weapons. After that I might work on my 870MCS -- putting that in **excuse my language** 3rd place.

Assault; I play with the P90 (red dot sight and flashlight) or the 870MCS (red dot sight and flashlight).

Support; I play with the M27-IAR with a supressor and a 3.4x scope. Haven't played with it in a while though.

Recon; I only play this kit when I snipe. I use the JNG-90 and a T-UGS and spawn beacon.

As for my sidearm, I use the M1911 TAC throughout all kits.

I also use the I dont really care about support or Recon but Engineer and Assult for the  Engineer I wil take in what u guys said try ur kits for the  class but for Assault i need to get those weapons :D

Sure thing.

But you should already have the 870MCS as you get that at rank 2 or 3. ;)
